Event: Newly Elected Vice Chair of the DNC to Speak at "Big Tent on the Prairie"

Ames, IA- The Boone, Hamilton, Hardin, and Story County Democrats and the ISU Democrats are proud to announce that rising star Michael Blake will be the keynote speaker at their event “The Big Tent on the Prairie” on June 24th at Alluvial Brewing Company. They are pleased to welcome Democratic gubernatorial candidates as well.

Keynote speaker Michael Blake is the son of Jamaican immigrants who graduated from Northwestern University with a degree in Journalism. In 2008 Blake served as the Iowa Deputy Political Director for Barack Obama and in 2012 as the National Deputy Director of Operation Vote for President Obama. Blake currently serves as the New York Assemblyman from the 79th district in the Bronx and is a newly elected Vice Chair of the Democratic National Committee.

All the Democratic gubernatorial candidates have been invited and the following are confirmed to speak:

Cathy Glasson, Jon Neiderbach, Todd Prichard, Andy McGuire, and  with John Norris being represented by his wife Jackie. Nate Boulton and Mike Matson are unable to attend. Potential candidate Fred Hubble did not respond to the invitation to speak.

Admission is free, though this is the Summer fundraiser and donations will be accepted at the door to be shared by the participating counties and the ISU Democrats. Light refreshments and beverages will be served. Alluvial Brewing Company will have additional beverages for purchase. Musical entertainment will be provided by Ben Schrag & The Cautionaries. This is a family friendly event with activities for the children.
